Synthesis of stimuli-responsive hybrid particles

This project is based on the design of hybrid particles with a stimuli-sensitive polymer core (typically, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)) and silica particles in situ formed on the outer shell. The responsive behavior of the polymer core and the well-known properties of silica allow us to carry out new types of studies. The objectives of this work are i) to understand the synthesis mechanism; ii) based on this knowledge, to utilize this system to synthesize new types of particles with a responsive behavior triggered by different stimuli (light, magnetic field…).
