TA Instruments AR-G2 rheometer is a controlled stress, direct strain and controlled rate rheometer with a combined motor and transducer. Due to its magnetically-levitating thrust bearing and a “drag cup” motor technology, nano-torque can be applied to the sample. The low friction and inertia of the drag cup motor are ideal for creep and recovery measurements and allow an extended angular velocity range. Although designed according to the principles of traditional controlled-stress rheometers, the AR rheometers are better regarded as both controlled-stress and controlled-strain rheometers.
Our lab has an AR-G2 (2009) model, which is equipped with a non-contact “drag cup” motor with a temperature sensor, a magnetic thrust bearing, a dual porous carbon radial bearing, a low-inertia optical encoder and a normal force transducer. AR-G2 comes with the “Smart Swap” technology that automatically senses the temperature control system and the Smart Swap™ geometry recognition system that allows the automatic recognition of the geometry attached.
