From 2011 to 2013

Sandro was born in Zürich in 1981, where he enrolled at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 2003 to study biology. After graduating in spring 2009 with a Master’s degree in plant genetics and plant biochemistry, he worked at the University of Geneva for 9 months, where he investigated the vitamin B6 biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana. In autumn 2010 he started his PhD studies at the University of Bern in Prof. Barbara Rothen’s group in the field of engine emission toxicity. In January 2011 the research group moved to the department for clinical research of the Bern University Hospital and in summer 2011 to the Adolphe Merkle Institute at the University of Fribourg where Sandro is currently continuing his research.
