Furlan Marco

AMI Alumni, Nanoparticles Self-Assembly
From 2012 to 2013

Marco Furlan was born in Locarno, Switzerland and moved to Zürich to study chemical engineering at ETH. After he received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical and Bio-engineering, he joined the group of Professor Morbidelli for a PhD. His PhD work, which was supervised by Professor Marco Lattuada, was focused on the self-assembly of superparamagnetic nanoparticles using external magnetic fields with the aim of developing new composites materials using the magnetic nanoparticles both as building blocks and directing agents during sol-gel processes. After he obtained the PhD, he joined the new group of Professor Marco Lattuada at the Adolphe Merkle Institute as post-doctoral researcher, continuing his work in the field of magnetic self-assembly.
