The Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI) is an interdisciplinary research institute of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Fribourg devoted to fundamental and application-oriented research and teaching in the domain of soft nanomaterials. AMI’s researchers are organized in four permanent research groups with complementary expertise:

Our institute also currently hosts two junior groups with research activities in the areas of Macromolecular Chemistry and Nanoparticles Self-Assembly.

AMI is governed by an Institute Council composed of two representatives of the University of Fribourg and two representatives from the Adolphe Merkle Foundation. An international external Scientific Advisory Board provides advice on scientific, strategic, and structural questions.
